In memory of 2010 part 9: the Best of the Rest

Where I speak of the shows that had their moments, but which don’t stand out completely in one way or another. A mixture of characters and couples, and scenes that I will watch again and again long after today.

Durarara!!

SO. DAMN. CUTE.

Honestly, forget about the plot. The insane characters are what make this show, especially the cute and perverted ones we see here.

House of Five Leaves / Saraiya Goyou

And the story…comes full circle…

…er…I actually love the entire show. Frankly speaking, I can’t even pick out something I didn’t like about it, except that I really would like them to animate the 2nd half too. And then produce a box-set, which I’d buy in a heartbeat! This is the best show amongst those I’ve listed here, the only reason it’s not my top show is because the story ain’t quite finished yet.

WORKING!!

Not to me! Apologise to your daughter!!

Episode 9 was full of win, not only for Kotori-chan, but also for the irony that it’s the cross-dressing Takanashi who demonstrates just how much of a man he is.

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru

Let’s get registered!

Quite a few for Soremachi too, from the harsh realities of unrequited high school crushes to the insanity of Japanese vending machines, but above all, I really loved what Japanese Heaven is like!

Shinrei Tantei Yakumo

Doesn’t this just make you all go DAWWWWWW!

Let me say what everyone else has already said: the punch this series made in its last two arcs was worth the rushed beginning: the development of certain characters really was fantastic, though I always enjoyed the show more for their witty – and sometimes, subtle – interactions with each other anyway.

Otome Youkai Zakuro

You’re the worst!…wait, why are you getting depressed again!?! Okay, I take it back!

I actually have a lot of favourite moments from Zakuro: plenty with Kei and Zakuro, and Riken and Susukihotaru, Mamezou patting Kei’s butt in episode 3, the kiss in the finale, etc etc. In fact, if they’d actually shown us the kiss (preferably in silhouette or by shadow), I’d have picked that out no question. They didn’t however, and so the moment that stays with me now is the above: “No. That guy DOESN’T know how you feel, because you’ve been criticising him all this time!”

Kuragehime

The Evil Fashion Queen and the Jellyfish Princess are one and the same: furthermore, this is a guy ^^

This show really petered off towards the end, but Kuranosuke is more fabulous than any other character this year. Yes, even the Galactic Pretty Boy.

Ore no Imouto wa Konna ni Kawai Wake ga nai!

OreImo will carry over into next year (In fact, I don’t really want to say too much about it until they animate the entire novel)…but

There is no room for argument…Kuroneko is love!!
