Kimi ni Todoke – it’s those little things that make all the difference.

Watching Kimi ni Todoke this past season has gifted me with a mixture of emotions. “Moe-ness” at Sawako’s extreme cuteness; giddy anticipation at Ayane’s plotting; laughter at Chizu and Ryuu’s boke tendencies; trepidation at Kazehaya’s nervousness.

The easy-going joy that accompanies time spent with your friends. The frustrations at not being able to do anything useful. The glee of teasing a friend in love. The warm fluffiness that comes from being with the person you love, walking beside them, finding out about them…

Though the development of these blossoming relationships is soooo excruciatingly slow, it’s this unhurried pace that serves up all of these little moments, that ones that make all the difference in a story that’s not about the outcome, but rather about the journey to get there.
